"Economia disperarii"- spectacol de teatru la Chicago pus in scena de o clujeanca

 "Nu vom glorifica, victimiza sau capitaliza pe nimeni. Noi, pur și simplu, am angajat un emigrant să facă muncile murdare."

Luni, 11 Noiembrie, 7:30 PM la  Muzeul Național de Artă Mexicană de la adresa 1852 W 19th St, Chicago va avea loc spectacolul de teatru "Economy of desperation" pus in scena de regizoarea clujeana Ioana Paun.

Acest spectacol este rezultatul rezidenței artistice oferită regizorului român Ioana Păun de către CEC ArtsLink din New York și găzduită de Teatro Luna din Chicago. Spectacolul le are in distributie pe: Karen Rodriguez, Enid Muñoz, Allyce Torres si Christine Shallenberg.

Artista românca a petrecut o lună în Chicago unde a întâlnit și intervievat emigranți români, mexicani și filipinezi, specialiști, organizații, avocați ai deportaților, dar și cetățeni Americani, pentru a sonda realitățile emigranților fără documente și a le reprezenta. Spectacolul, numit "Economia Disperării", prezintă perspective mai puțin publice ale emigranților și confruntă spectatorul cu motoarele sistemului economic american.

Spectacolul va avea loc la Muzeul Național de Artă Mexicană și va fi urmat de o discuție informală în cadrul unei mese deschise cu mâncare latină.



Ioana Păun este regizor și cercetător. Ioana folosește teatrul, tehnologie și științe comportamentale pentru a provoca aspecte paralizate ale realității. Ioana a prezentat spectacole in România, Marea Britanie, Germania, Cehia, Ungaria, fiind susținută de centre precum Theater Royal Stratford East, Live Art Development Agency (Londra), Schaubuehne Theatre (Berlin), Fondazione Maxxi (Roma), UK Young Artists (Nottingham), British Council, Pépinières européennes pour jeunes artistes , Teatrul Național din Iași, Teatrul Foarte Mic, Medeea Electronique (Salonic), Onassio Centre (Athens), Universitatea Națională de Artă Teatrală și Cinematografică, ICR, Mecklemburg Inspires și Schloss Broellin (Pomerania), AFCN România.

we will scrutinize the financialization of despair. the capitalization of vulnerability. the speculation of fear. 

we will have a go at the artification of sweat laborers. the spectacularization of the undocumented. the intellectualization of the humiliated. the exoticization of the poor.

we will not glorify, victimize and valorize anybody or anything.

we will simply, clinically, hire a woman to do the dirty work.

this performance is part of ioana paun’s residency in US, supported by CEC ArtsLink and hosted by Teatro Luna. to assemble it, ioana has met and discussed with immigrant women doing domestic labor, many US citizens and a deportation lawyer. it was motivated by francisca, elena, myrla, teresa and zoyla.

the work presented is part of a wider platform, Invisible Natalia, created together with sociologist Ivo Furman to expose the ways in which immigrants fill the gaps of dysfunctional economies.

Ioana PAUN (b. 1984,  Romania) is a live artist working and researching radically. She mixes theatre, technology and social sciences to provoke the, apparently, permanent aspects of reality. Her projects include: THIS IS NOT A GAME – simulating through AR technology the process of becoming a prostitute, INDIGNATION INDEX – a dystopian hyper-reality engaging audiences in a revolution against the Romanian defense apparatus, ALL WORKERS GO TO HEAVEN – a simulacra of a sweatshop that precipitates economic and power relations between the participating audience.
